2009 Stanley Cup is repeat of last year's

Well it's taken us a year of NHL Hockey to get back to where we were just about a year ago, with the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins ready to thrown down once again for the chance to hoist the Lord Stanley's Cup. We all remember the thrilling NHL games fans with Stanley Cup tickets got to see during last year's NHL Final. This year the Penguins are a year older and a year wiser, and you know that fans in Pittsburgh are hoping that Syd the Kid and the rest of the Pens crew are able to take down the defending NHL Champs. But the Red Wings are looking just as sharp this year, and now have the added presence of Marian Hossa that will definitely cause some trouble for the Penguins. Fans are going crazy looking for Stanley Cup tickets and if the first games prove to be eventful, you know that trend will increase. This is the first time since 1984 that the previous Stanley Cup teams met again in the NHL Finals.

Adding to the excitement of the Stanley Cup is the fact that Hossa left the Penguins last year to sign with the Red Wings because he felt it gave him the best chance to win the cup. Now, he will be facing off against his old team, who wants the title all for itself. "Those guys are going to be hungry," Hossa told ESPN. "They've got lots of experience right now from last year."

And while the smart money would be on the defending champs to repeat, there are several reasons to think that the Penguins have a better shot at winning the Stanley Cup. For one thing, the Red Wings are dealing with a number of injuries right now. The Detroit Red Wings will have to make due with injuries to Nicklas Lidstrom, Pavel Datsyuk, Kris Draper, Jonathan Ericsson, Andreas Lilja, Tomas Kopecky and Marian Hossa. That is a startling number of injuries, so look for Penguins ticket holders to expect big things.

Crosby and Evgeni Malkin will be doing their best to stop the Red Wings. They have come a long way since last year's Cup, so expect them to be a handful for Detroit defenders. They should be able to give the Red Wings their biggest challenge of the 09 NHL playoffs. Red Wings have a very good bench that will make it tough for the Penguins to hang with them for the entire game.

Another issue will be the home-field advantage of the Red Wings. With all the economic trouble going on in Michigan, there seems to be less demand for Red Wings Stanley Cup tickets. In fact, many are reporting you can get some very cheap Red Wings tickets for the Stanley Cup. Will there be enough Penguins ticket holders in Detroit to take away some of the home-field advantage? You'll have to get your Stanley Cup tickets to find out.

How good the Penguins and Red Wings goalies perform will determine quite a bit of the outcome. Detroit's Chris Osgood has been good enough to get the Wings to the Stanley Cup, while the Penguins' Marc-Andre Fleury has also been a very good net-minder till now. Fans with Stanley Cup tickets will get a front-row seat to see which goalie is able to give his team the best chance to win.

It is definitely going to be a Stanley Cup for the ages, with both teams wanting to prove they are the best. The Penguins are older and wiser, but the Red Wings have gotten it done in the past. You've got to be there for all the action, so get your Stanley Cup tickets as soon as you can. This one is going to be good hockey all around.

2008 Stanley Cup Finals

The Stanley Cup tickets race was on for Game 1 and the favorite to win this series was surely the Red Wings. Game 1 in this 2008 Stanley Cup series produced a flurry of goals for Detroit but nothing for Pittsburgh; former Pengiun Mikael Samuelsson rapped two unassisted scorchers into the net in a 4-0 slam that had "series winners" written all over it. Stanley Cup tickets holders were dumbfounded at the one-sidedness of the battle, while personnel were slightly more inclined towards a sporting attitude. Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood and coach Mike Babcock acknowledged the Penguins strength in offence (as well as their tired defense) in this whirlwind start to the 2008 Stanley Cup, and understandably the Red Wings were massively confident of a major result in the long run.

2007 Stanley Cup Finals

When the Red Wings from Hockeytown were 3-1 ahead in the Stanley Cup Finals and Red Wings Penguins tickets were what hockey fans lived for, we had the wonderful world of NHL hockey at our feet. By Game 3, the Penguins had yet to register on the scoreboard, going down 4-0 and 3-0 respectively in the first two games of the 2008 series. Red Wings tickets were being hunted high and low by Hockeytown's legions of crazy ice fans, and Penguins tickets weren't too far behind. There were comments from Penguins Coach Michel Therrien about Detroit's tactics. Therrien speculated that the Red Wings' tendency to clog the midfield and create a baffle for attacking opponents constituted "obstruction", and Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby seemed to agree. This match-up definitely lived up to the hype. The Red Wings up 2-0 in the series and seriously believing they might sweep this Stanley Cup without conceding a single goal, were stunned when the Penguins came out 3-2 winners in Game 3. The series was now 2-1. Game 4 was another victory for the Red Wings, and the crowd at Joe Louis Arena were ready to celebrate when they bought Red Wings tickets for Game 5. But this has been no ordinary Stanley Cup; the Penguins were up up 2-0 in the first period of Game 5, and the crowd were stunned. Then, the Red Wings struck back, making it 3-2 Detroit! The game had much life left in it, though, and after reaching a 3-3 deadlock, entered a series of overtimes rarely before seen in NHL hockey. With 49:57 and into triple overtime, the Penguins' Petr Sykora scored and turned the arena on its head! The teams went to Pittsburgh's Mellon Arena for Game 6, with the crowd poised for the unexpected. Typically, the Pittsburgh side have been the surprise outfit this NHL season, but they ended it heartbroken and proud.
